✨ Truth or False Tuesday ✨ FALSE: The dumpster behind your house is not assigned exclusively to your residence. Every Meadow residence pays for trash service through their utility bill. The City places dumpsters conveniently throughout town so residents have access to them, but they are shared community dumpsters—not personal ones. Please be respectful of your neighbors by avoiding overfilling dumpsters and disposing of trash responsibly. If you have an excessive amount of trash, the City also provides two roll-off containers. Contact City Hall for access. In other words… don’t be a jerk. 😉 Use a dumpster because you need to—not because you’re trying to fill up the one behind your neighbor’s house. A little common courtesy goes a long way in keeping Meadow clean and being a good neighbor. 💜

Help Wanted: Part-Time Maintenance Worker

The City of Meadow is accepting applications for a Part-Time Maintenance Worker to assist with the upkeep and beautification of city facilities and public spaces.

This position is ideal for someone who takes pride in their work, enjoys working outdoors, and is committed to helping keep the City of Meadow clean, safe, and welcoming.

-Job Duties-

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Grounds maintenance of city properties
Mowing, weed eating, edging, and spraying weeds
Operating and maintaining city equipment and tools
Assisting Public Works employees with daily maintenance tasks
Assisting with the setup and preparation of city events
Performing other maintenance and labor duties as assigned

-Minimum Qualifications-
High school diploma or GED equivalent
Ability to safely operate lawn maintenance equipment and other machinery
Valid driver's license preferred
Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions
Must be dependable, self-motivated, and able to work independently with minimal supervision
Must be willing to work as part of a team when needed

Employment Type: Part-Time

This storm is capable of producing baseball-sized hail and dangerous weather conditions. 🚒🖤 HONORING A FALLEN FIREFIGHTER 🖤🚒

It is with heavy hearts that we recognize the sacrifice of Odessa Fire Rescue Lieutenant Isai Huerta, who lost his life in the line of duty while responding to a residential fire in Odessa.

Lieutenant Huerta served his community with courage, dedication, and selflessness. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family, fellow firefighters, friends, and the entire Odessa Fire Rescue family during this difficult time.

Lieutenant Huerta will be transported through our area en route to Lubbock for autopsy. The Meadow Volunteer Fire Department will be positioned along the highway to pay their respects as he makes his final journey.

We invite anyone who would like to join us in honoring this fallen hero to gather along the highway. The procession is expected to travel through the area at approximately 6:20 a.m.

Please help us show our gratitude and respect for a firefighter who made the ultimate sacrifice in service to others.

✅ UPDATE: WATER LEAK REPAIRED ✅

City crews located a small leak on a service line running to a residential water meter. Fortunately, there were no issues with the water main.

The leak has been successfully repaired. We do ask residents to continue avoiding the area around 2nd Street and Purcell while our crew completes street repairs associated with the work.

🚨 A Message from the City Manager 🚨

Now that school is out for the summer, we have more children walking, riding bikes, and playing throughout our community. With that in mind, I would like to ask everyone to help make safety a priority.

Recently, I have noticed an increase in speeding, failure to stop at stop signs, and dogs running loose around town. While I make every effort to address ordinance violations directly with residents whenever possible, I have not seen the level of compliance needed to keep our community safe.

Traffic laws and city ordinances are in place for a reason. During the summer months, it is especially important that drivers slow down, obey all traffic signs, and remain alert for children who may be nearby. Likewise, pet owners are responsible for ensuring their animals are properly contained and not creating a safety concern for others.

The City's goal is always voluntary compliance and neighborly cooperation. Contacting the Sheriff's Office for enforcement is a last resort, not a first choice.

Please help us keep Meadow a safe place for our children, families, and visitors. A little extra caution and consideration can make a big difference.
